A New Chapter: The Quickening & Joining the Pack

For a long time, this blog has been a place for us to pause and reflect on the changing seasons and the practice of yoga. But as the year begins to quicken, I’ve felt the need for a space that allows our community to grow a little closer and the writing to breathe a little more.

I have recently launched The Seasonal Almanac on Substack, and Joe Black and I would love for you to join us there.

Why the move to Substack?

While this website remains my home for yoga classes and workshops, Substack is where the heartbeat of my writing now lives. It is a space built for connection. By moving the Almanac to Substack, I can ensure that every Field Note lands directly in your inbox, and we can finally use the ‘Comments’ section to share the glimmers we find in our own lives.

Coming This Sunday: The February Bumper Issue

The February edition of the Almanac is scheduled to land in inboxes on Sunday morning (February 1st). While January was about the stillness of the ‘Stay at Home Moon,’ February brings a distinct ‘Tuesday Energy.

We will explore:

  • The Science of Geosmin: Why this is referred to as the ‘smell of life,’ and how it signals the deep biological shift of the changing season.
  • The King of Birds: Why a tiny Wren in an extractor vent is the ultimate symbol of resilience.
  • Pure Grit: Learning from the Snowdrops as they push through the Yorkshire mud.
  • Movement & Breath: A 6-minute guide to ‘Greasing the Hinges’ as the light returns.

If you’re feeling the mid winter slump, come and discover why your system isn’t broken, it’s just recalibrating.

A Note for My Current Subscribers

If you already receive updates from this blog, you won’t automatically be moved to the new Substack list (due to data privacy). To ensure you receive the February issue this Sunday and stay part of the pack, please take a moment to enter your email at the link below.

I’d love for you to walk this path with us. If you’ve enjoyed the posts here, think of Substack as our new, warmer hearth – a place where the coffee is always hot, the mud is purely optional, and the connection is a little deeper. Whether you’re here for the folklore, the yoga, or simply a quiet reminder to move and breathe, you are so very welcome. Let’s see what the ‘Quickening’ has in store for us this Sunday.

Namaste

Claire & Joe x
